Inform at the Nordic Heritage Museum with Docomomo WEWA

Inform Interiors was pleased to present remarks about Poul Kjaerholm at Docomomo WEWA's event at the Nordic Heritage Museum's Danish Modern: Design for Living exhibit.

A refreshingly interested and engaged audience had all sorts of questions and comments and most made a point of trying out the 3 Poul Kjaerholm chairs we brought in for the event, the PK25, PK22 and PK9 (left to right in the top image). Furniture is meant to be sat in after all!

One attendee, retired architect Audrey Legh Van Horne found her way to our showroom the next day just for a promised private tour with Hillary. It was delight going through the many pieces that we have at Inform from the same era as Poul Kjaerholm's work. We toured works from Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Alvar Aalto, Gino Sarfatti, and Charles and Ray Eames. Inform is available as a resource for the design community. Please visit us often to see what's new and revisit the classics we try to have on hand at all times.

Holiday Gift Idea: Artek 60 stools

This stackable stool was designed by Alvar Aalto during the years of 1932-33. Aalto developed the bent L-shaped leg to achieve his ultimate design aesthetic which mixed art and nature with technology. This unique bending technology became the basis of Stool 60 and was later patented.

Artek’s Tapiovaara Collection at Inform

Artek has a lot to celebrate lately.

In 2010, the Finish company had their 75th Anniversary and announced an exciting acquisition. Artek broadened their product range by adding the classic furniture by fellow Finnish designer, the renowned Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999). His furniture is based on the same ideological premises of Alvar Aalto, Artek’s founder.

At this year’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), Artek featured the Tapiovaara collection at their booth and received the Editor Award for Best Furniture.

We are excited to have the Tapiovaara furniture on display in our Seattle showroom. Come check it out – you’ll love the clean lines and superb craftsmanship!

Artek 2nd Cycle - A Sense of Sustainability

Here at Inform we just received our loved and now to be loved again 2nd Cycle Aalto Stool 60. 2nd Cycle is Artek's answer to the ever growing problem of consumption and a way to honor the importance of orginality and authentic design. Since Artek was founded in 1935, some 8 million stools have been sold worldwide. That is a lot! And a few years ago, Artek began to get some those back - from fleamarkets, schools, and those who no longer wanted them. Now the unwanted stools can tell their story again and have a new lease on life with another owner.
"This was a brand new stool sometime in the 30s. Where it's been in the past 70 years, we can only guess by reading tiny clues, like the green paint subtly appearing through the chipped coat of red. Some might think this stool looks old and dodgy. We think its never look more beautiful." - Artek

Stop by the showroom to take a look at our new 2nd Cycle Stool 60.
