Holiday Gift Idea: Alvar Aalto vase from Iittala

The Aalto vase dates back to 1936 - first presented at the Paris World Fair the following year.  Its fluid, organic form is still mouth blown today at the Iittala factory.  It takes a team of seven skilled craftsmen working as one to creat one Aalto vase - an icon of modern design.  Alvar Aalto is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in modern architecture and Scandinavian design.

Mater product feature

Founded in 2006, Mater is a Copenhagen-based company with a strong vision to create timeless and beautiful design based on an ethical business strategy.

We are loving their newest release, the Mater Bowl Tables designed by Ayush Kasliwal.

Aptly named the Bowl Table for providing a surface to fan out magazines or to hold drinks and personal treasures, the success of the original Bowl Table has now inspired two more sizes in two heights. Detachable legs allow for economy of transport but also for the table tops to be used as a tray. And with legs attached, the trio is a dynamic group of functional furniture with each size portable enough to move about as needed and desired.

Another favorite from this line is the Mater High Stool. Its beautifully crafted frame comes in black, recycled aluminum, dark stained oak, light oak, sirka grey.
