New in the Showroom: Yumi Floor Lamp by Shigeru Ban for Fontana Arte

The new Yumi floor lamp from Fontana Arte synthesizes 2014 Pritzker prize-winner Shigeru Ban's approach to form within his architecture into a stunningly lit and visually poetic arc lamp. This is a lamp, perfect over a desk, dining table or seating area, which almost disappears in both the room it inhabits and your electric bill, due to its' LED lighting and thin carbon fiber frame.

Ban's architecture has been described as "balletic", and this lamp, which reaches 9'4" out and 91.7" high, is clearly an extension of the same principles and aesthetics he applies to the rest of his work. Ban has not produced many pieces of furniture over his 30 practicing years an architect, so this collaboration with lighting powerhouse Fontana Arte is a chance to live with a rare and expressive piece of his creative oeuvre.
