Since 1985 Santa + Cole have been creating a collection of clean, simple, warm designs for residential and contract spaces around the world. 

Santa + Cole work with many authors of great designs, which are then edited, developed, and published by the Santa + Cole team with the highest quality materials and processes that each piece requires.

Notable designer Miguel Milá has designed timeless lighting pieces since the 1950’s with beautiful simplicity as shown with the TMM floor lamp (1961) and the impressive Estadio designed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.  Milá’s designs are complemented wonderfully by Antonio Arola’s designs with Nimba (1997) and Cirio (2010).

Cirio is an impressive design that embraces Santa & Cole’s values for clean, simple, and warm designs.  Inspired by the Grand Chandeliers from the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Cirio’s translucent porcelain shades are beautiful and versatile in any application. Cirio is available as LED.

Bensen Project Feature: Songbird

In Bensen News: Designers Leela Brightenburg and Alissa Pulcrano of Bright Design Lab choose to use the Bensen Torii chairs for a new eatery in the Mt Tabor neighborhood of Portland called Songbird. The chairs complement the tasteful airy aesthetic of the restaurant, while also having been selected for their surprising amount of comfort. We’re proud to see Torri used in such a beautifully executed project and pleased to hear customers glowing response to the chair and… the delicious food!

*Spotted* DS 600 by de Sede

At Inform, we're always tuned in and excited to see our products out in the world. We love seeing a great chair in the background of an architectural photoshoot; all the classics on the Mad Men set; a movie scene with phenomenal lighting. Some people might miss these details, but if you're reading this, we're betting that you also take note.

The DS-600 is nicknamed the "Endless Sofa" because you can zip the elements together, curving to create a stunning installation, until you have the longest sofa in the world. This iconic piece was designed by Ueli Berger, Elenora Peduzzi-Riva, Heinz Ulrich, Klaus Vogt for de Sede, in Switzerland.

Artifort, derived from the Latin word 'ars' meaning art or knowledge, and 'fortis' meaning strong or powerful. The word 'comfort' is also referenced. The company started in 1890 in Amsterdam by Jules Wagemans as an upholstery company. In 1928 Jules' son, Henricus renamed and re-branded the company into what is was today - making original, unique furniture. They have continued to do so over the years by tapping designers such as Geoffrey Harcourt, Pierre Paulin, Jasper Morrison, Khodi Feiz, and many more.

We are excited to have the Nina chair and stool on the floor, as well as the Orange Slice, and Gap. Please come by to see and sit - they are amazingly comfortable! The name does not lie.

Arper Nuur wins the 22nd Compasso d’Oro

Congratulations to Arper! The Nuur is wonderful piece and can be seen at Inform Contract now along with many pieces from the Arper collection.

The International Jury of the 22nd Compasso d’Oro Award, presided over by Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis, has awarded the triennial COMPASSO d’ORO prize to Nuur, the table designed by Simon Pengelly. The Compasso d’Oro originated in Milan in 1954 from an idea of Giò Ponti. It is the most important Italian design award for the project, product and research, and is promoted by ADI, the Industrial Design Association.

The Awards Ceremony was held in Rome the 12th July 2011, at MACRO, the Museum of Contemporary Art. There, as of the 30 May, as part of the exhibition 1961/2011 Fifty years of Italian savoir-faire through the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, all the products chosen by ADI during the three-year period from 2008 to 2010 and published in the ADI Design Index yearbook are on display.

Contemporaneously, as part of the Made in Italy and National Identity exhibition, held at Palazzo delle Esposizioni, it is possible to see the historic collection of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, declared “assets of national relevance” in 2004.

The Nuur table will become part of this unique collection of design projects attesting to over 50 years of the history of Italian design.

Both exhibitions, which are part of the event “Unicità d’Italia”, organized by Fondazione Valore Italia on the occasion of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification, will be open until 25th September 2011.

The Nuur table was awarded the Compasso d’Oro prize by the jury for the “exceptional lightness and attention to detail in its design”.

Claudio Feltrin, Arper’s CEO, who was present at the awards ceremony with his father, Luigi, founder and President of the company, and with Simon Pengelly, the designer, declared that “receiving the Compasso d’Oro is a very important goal for Arper and represents an acknowledgement of the company’s production skills and effectiveness. Over the past 10 years, Arper has invested heavily in research, technology, environmental sustainability, communication and its commercial network”.

The Compasso d’Oro adds itself to the list of other international awards obtained in 2010: the Design Guild Mark and the Design Week Awards in the United Kingdom; the Interior Innovation Award and the IF Product Design Award in Germany.
