Holiday Gifting from Inform: Staff Picks

Matthew's Picks

For my gift list this year LIGHT is the operative word- we all need a little more light in our life whether in the form of light and airy glassware, light for reading or the light of a candle’s glow.

Tom Dixon scent gift set, $120. Also available and sold individually in larger sizes, these unique candles are reminiscent of worldly scents, and come wonderfully packaged in nickel, copper and brass vessels.

From Flos, the D'E' Light, $395. This LED table lamp also has an integrated phone charger and discrete on-off touch button. Light and practical for a coworker or friend's desktop.

From Iittala, the Ultima Thule collection of barware and tabletop items has always been a favorite, and this fantastic centerpiece ($140) in molded glass is quite dramatic. Beautifully faceted, it looks like it is made of ice.

From the Vitra miniatures collection, this light Knotted chair ($310) made of carbon fibre dipped and cast in resin is perfect for the small apartment and the friend who has everything!

Holiday Gift Idea: Eames House Bird

Charles and Ray Eames augmented the interior “collage” of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a black wooden bird — evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art — has stood in the centre of their living room for over fifty years. Also seen as an accessory in many of the Eameses’ photographs.

10.75"H x 3.5"W x 11"D

$230

Perhaps you need a tree and want to get one that is more sustainable. Here is one that can be used year after year! The Ameico Filigantrae is available now for $275.

Also from Ameico are the wooden toys of old. Remember these? I couldn't wait to get them into the showroom. I remember setting up the steep red roof houses and the buildings in the town with the minature train running through! I loved it so much, I bought a set for my own mantle. I bet my niece and nephews are going to love playing with it just as much. $32 for the set.

Here are a few items to modernize your table settings this year!

Side by Side walnut salad tongs from Ameico. $40

Etch Candleholders from Tom Dixon, $55 flat packed or $70 assembled.

Another way to light up your holiday feasts is the cast iron Crown Candelabra from Tom Dixon, $300.

I love this holiday stocking stuffer! Vintage Swiss Army Flashlights from Ameico are at Inform now. $35 each, batteries included.

New at Inform are the ultra soft Alpaca and baby Alpaca wool scarves and throws from Elvang out of Denmark. The colors are beautiful! Perfect to combat the cold winter weather.

Pull up a book and put your feet up on this great pouf by Hella Jongerius for Vitra. Available in 3 different designs and colorways. Bovist, $810.

Classics from Charles and Ray Eames and Alexander Girard are always perfect standby's for the design buff in your world! Eames bird from Vitra, $210. Assorted Wooden dolls from Vitra, $160 each.

Pick up some Girard wall paper at the showrooom for that added modern design touch for $5 a roll! We all look forward to seeing you in the showroom this holiday season and hope we can help you find the right gift for the special people in your life. Happy holidays from Inform Interiors!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, indeed! Cheers to an amazing designer whose worked with not only Vitra, but with Flexform, Moroso, Flos and Iittala. Here's to exceptional work thus far and to many more years of great design to come!

Happy Birthday, Antonio Citterio!

Vitra celebrates two major milestones

Italian designer Antonio Citterio was born 60 years ago and has been working with Vitra for 25 years. To mark the occasion, Rolf Fehlbaum, chairman of Vitra, has written a birthday letter in which he not only congratulates Antonio but also highlights the close and strong partnership that Vitra enjoys with the designer. Read it here.

Kind regards

Vitra
